Service Work Opportunities

The table below details some of the service opportunities available with the Oregon & Southwest Washington Area.  Feel free to attend any of the committee meetings to find out how you can become involved.

COMMITTEE PURPOSE MEETING
Archives To act as the primary contact with fellowship members wishing to donate memorabilia; maintain a detailed list of donated items and donors, and which items are on loan. This position is appointed by the Area chair.
Chips & Literature To keep and maintain an adequate supply of CA-approved chips and literature. Area meetings and other service committees purchase chips and literature through this committee.  
Convention To develop and implement a plan resulting in a successful annual convention.  While the convention's purpose is to carry the CA message, it is also the Area's largest fundraiser. Meeting times and locations vary - contact Convention chairperson. 
Delegates To represent the Area at the annual CA World Service conference, and to transmit information back to the Area; to generate funds to support CA World Services; to attend district and area business meetings, and visit area meetings and groups; to help solve local problems involving CA Traditions; to assist in training Alternate Delegate; to serve on a committee at the CA World Services conference.
Entertainment To promote fun and enthusiasm within the fellowship of CA by scheduling and arranging low-cost events throughout the year.  The primary purpose of these events is to carry the CA message, promote a sense of belonging, and build the spirit of fellowship.
Helpline To maintain the phone system so that CA of Oregon & SW Washington is available to anyone who needs CA-related information, and to have every call answered, in person, by a CA member.  The answering service is to be used only as backup.
Hospitals & Institutions To coordinate the effort to carry the CA message to hospitals and institutions in our service area.  This includes establishing and maintaining panel chairs for each facility the Area has a commitment to, and maintaining an inventory of books, literature and schedules for distribution by the panel chairs. 3rd Sunday, 7:00 PM.

Public Information To coordinate the effort to carry the CA message to community groups and interested parties whose lives are affected by drug addiction.  Examples of community groups include newspapers, radio, television, Internet, businesses and schools.
Unity To enhance our communication and outreach among the diverse elements within our community in the interest of carrying the CA message and promoting CA unity.
